The Korea government through UNICEF has donated over 200,000 pieces of face masks to the Ghana Health Service (GHS).
The donation was made to assist and protect frontline health workers across the country in the current fight against the COVID-19 virus.
Jung Taek Lim, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, praised the Ghana government and the Ghana Health Service for efforts made to curb the spread of the virus .
UNICEF Representative in Ghana, Anne-Claire Dufay,read a speech which indicated that,the masks which are capable of filtering out SARS-CoV-2 particles have been cleared by the Food and Drugs Authority in Ghana.
Also, UNICEF expressed gratitude to the Republic of Korea for their support.
Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, thanked the Korean government for their support to the country.
Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye added that that the COVID-19 fight is not a one country fight but the whole world’s affair.
The vaccination has already covered 300,000 cases , he said.
However, the Korean government will continue to support Ghana to fight the pandemic.
