Independence Day is celebrated in remembrance of the day that marks the declaration of Ghanaian independence from the British colonial rule. Independence Day is celebrated every year on 6th March.
The President of Ghana,Akufo-Addo has suspended the 64th Independence Day celebration which was expected to take place on 6th March 2021.
As a result of the rising numbers of COVID-19 cases across the country, the president suspends the annual mounting of parades which is among the activities that mark Ghana’s Independence Day celebration.
Various Education Offices have received a letter from the Ghana Education Service stating that, the government has canceled this year’s Independence Anniversary Parade across the country with it’s related activities also canceled.
This year’s parade would have celebrated the country’s 64 years of gaining her Independence from its colonial masters.
The statement has called for strict compliance to the directive from the Government of Ghana through the Ghana Education Service.
Ghana’s active COVID-19 cases currently are 7, 850 with the country recording 542 deaths.
