The book also alleges that Ann Skakel, sister of Ethel Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy’s widow, had an illegitimate child with Mr Fine. The book also claimed the issue caused a rift between the sisters at the time and Ethel Kennedy had to force then-Attorney General Bobby Kennedy to negotiate a quiet divorce settlement for McCooey in case it blew up into a career-destroying scandal.

One person told the writer of Ann’s alleged affair with Fine: ‘It was almost as if Ann didn’t care who knew.‘ about the affair. “It was a very hypocritical place. Once, our friend Bob Mathias, the Olympic star, a big, good-looking guy, came to visit and the women went bonkers . . . practically handing him their panties.” Ann Skekel McCooey was a mother of two.
