The Asokwa Divisional Police Service stormed the premises of Akoma FM studios on Thursday morning, 19th November 2020 to pick up the former (MCE) for Ejisu, Afrifa Yamoah Ponkor during a live programme. This was after a misunderstanding with the MP of Bantama, Daniel Okyem Aboagye.
The show, which is a battle of ideas stemming from issue-based, results-oriented, facts-and-figure discussion, ended with former Ejisu/Juaben MCE being almost bundled up by three police officers from Asokwa Divisional Command following a call by Okyem Aboagye for his arrest.
The police rushed to the premises after a distress call from their central command to make an arrest of Yamaoh Ponkor because he had threatened the MP of Bantama’s life during a live radio programme.
The misunderstanding started when Yamoah Ponkor referred to Okyem Aboagye’s submission as “Childish” which took the argument to another level and resulted in an exchange of harsh words.
It took the intervention of the producer and host of the show, Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin to separate the two from engaging in a physical attack.
The former MCE Yamoah Ponkor declined to follow the police to their station for further questioning with the excuse of going to the hospital for treatment.
