He then married Alisande Ullman from 1958 to 1973 and Brooks Oliver from 1981 to 1983 before marrying Barbaree Earl. Barbaree and Leslie had no children together but Barbaree is the stepmother of Leslie’s children, Thea Nielsen Disney and Maura Nielsen Kaplan from his second marriage.

Barbaree Earl Nielsen and Leslie Nielsen were very supportive of each other. Barbaree often accompanied her husband to public events. The couple appeared together at the Premiere of Dimension Film’s “Superhero Movie” in March 2008 at the Mann Festival Westwood in Westwood, California. They were also at the premiere of “Stan Helsing”, Bo Zenga’s hilarious horror film parody held at ArcLight Hollywood on October 20, 2009, in Hollywood, California.

Barbaree Earl and Leslie Nielsen remained married until Leslie passed away, making Barbaree a widow. Barbaree, family, and friends were at Leslie’s bedside when he died. He died in his sleep from pneumonia on 28 November 2010, at age 84, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, U.S. His nephew Doug Nielsen told Canadian radio station CJOB that the actor had been in hospital for 12 days with the illness.

“He just fell asleep and passed away,” he said. “He was truly a nice man. A very caring, naturally funny guy in day-to-day life, not just because someone wrote something on paper for him. He was a very tender-hearted man. He was one of my best friends and I loved him dearly. ‘I’ll miss him greatly.” His body was interred in Fort Lauderdale’s Evergreen Cemetery. As a final bit of humor, he chose “Let ‘er rip” as his epitaph.
