Darryl White Sued His Stepmother After His Father Barry White Died
Barry White took his last breath on July 4, 2003, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Soon after his death, a fight over his estate followed. His son Darryl White from his first marriage decided to sue his stepmother Glodean White and his father’s estate. Darryl who TMZ said was ‘almost broke and nearly homeless” sued to get a bigger share of his famous father’s estate in 2017.
Darryl White made claims that he was never shown his father’s will and payments made to him from the estate stopped in September 2015. He believes that his stepmother Glodean who was made sole executor of Barry White’s estate, is spending his father’s money on a lavish lifestyle. Darryl sued to get access to his father’s will and a proper accounting of what he was due.
“Darryl White last received a distribution from the trust on or about September 1st, 2015. However there has frequently been significant gaps in distributions, sometimes up to 10 months, so Darryl White was not concerned about the gaps or their legal effect,” the documents state. “Darryl White has not received any further distribution from the trust.”
Darryl wasn’t the only one who did the suing. His half-sister Denise White born out of wedlock, also sued Barry White’s estate and Glodean in 2016 after she stopped receiving money and invitations to family gatherings. She claimed that Glodean had discouraged her from claiming her inheritance rights. Denise had requested an accounting of her father’s estate and its earnings and damages according to proof.
