Beau Turner was born in 1968  in the United States of America. As of 2023, he is 55 years old. Beau is the son of  Ted Turner and his second wife Jane Shirley Smith. He is one of the three children of the couple. He is the brother of  Jennie Turner and  Rhett Turner. He also has two half-siblings- Robert Edward Turner IV and  Laura Turner Seydel.

Beau Turner is an Environmentalist

Ted Turner’s son Beau is involved in numerous charitable organizations related to environmental conservation and preservation around the world. Currently, he serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Turner Endangered Species Fund and Director of Natural Resources and Biodiversity for  Turner Enterprises, Inc. In this capacity, Beau coordinates and oversees wildlife-related projects for the 2 million-acre operation per his website.

Talking to The Atlanta Jornal Constitution, he said -“Sometimes my siblings and I would take trash bags down to the Chattahoochee River and pick up aluminum cans. In that way, I’m similar to my dad. He picks up trash on the roads to do his part to keep our planet clean and healthy. There’s a bumper sticker that says it best: Think globally, act locally.“

One of Beau’s challenges is to strike a balance between multiple for-profit endeavors, notably the world’s largest bison enterprise, and his strong environmental ethic and concern. He is on the boards of the Jane Smith Turner charity, the Captain Planet Foundation, and the Peregrine Fund. He is a Trustee of the Turner Foundation, a private family charity that supports causes connected to the environment and population.

Ted Turner’s son is also very active in Outdoor Youth Reports, a site where young people can report and submit films about outdoor activities and events. This forum aims to inspire other young people to participate in outdoor activities and adventures.

Currently, Beau Turner is also working on growing the youth center concept and developing the BTYCC into a model for similar centers nationwide.

He also maintains close relationships with organizations including Ducks Unlimited, the National Wild Turkey Federation, the Boone and Crockett Club, Tall Timbers Research Station, and Land Conservancy, which encourages responsible land management among landowners in the Georgia and Florida Red Hills region.

Getting young people outside and enthusiastic about the natural world and the environment is Beau’s greatest interest. In order to accomplish this, he established the Beau Turner Youth Conservation Center (BTYCC) in 2008 close to his Florida home.

He told The Atlanta Jornal Constitution – “At the Beau Turner Youth Conservation Center outside of Tallahassee, we have a lot of arrows in our quiver to keep kids interested in the outdoors. We offer birding, hiking, archery, sport shooting, hunting, boating and more. Anything to keep them filled with a sense of wonder about their natural surroundings.“

Children are encouraged to be active outdoors at the BTYCC. Students explore alternative energy sources, engage with nature, practice fishing, archery, hunting, and camping techniques, and gain knowledge of conservation (the center is mostly powered by solar panels) according to his website.

Beau Turner is a father

Beau resides in Florida and has a son, Beau Jr. He got married to Elizabeth Gannon Hunt in 1999, the New York Times reported. Speaking to The Atlanta Jornal Constitution in 2011, Beau Turner said- “My son is 9 now, and he’s outside playing in the snow near our family ranch in Montana. A boy’s going to compete with his father — that’s innate. Beau Jr. wants the biggest snowball, and he’s out there measuring it.“
