Malcolm McDowell’s son is a singer. Beckett McDowell had tried out for American Idol and made the top 26, before deciding to step away from the competition. Later that night, Beckett took to his Instagram to address his departure. “To all of you wondering, yes I was on @americanidol and I made the top 26,” Malcolm McDowell’s son, wrote on his Instagram Stories, alongside a photo of himself holding up a golden American Idol ticket.

“I’m not going to say why I didn’t decide to continue in the competition but what I will say is that it was my choice,” he continued. “I am forever grateful to my American Idol family and I will always look back at the experience with the utmost gratitude and fondness. Please go vote for my friends now as they continue on in the competition.“

Despite dropping out of Idol, the talented singer has been working really hard and released a few songs under his first name. The singer has released three songs since 2021. Beckett McDowell’s debut single was “Weirdo,” and his most recent track was the indie pop track “Wildfire.” Malcolm McDowell’s son also frequently shares photos and videos of himself working on music on his Instagram, while also occasionally sharing photos with his dad and throwbacks to his childhood.
