Gladys “Blossom” Murray was a WAAF sergeant. She was born in the 1920s but her exact date of birth is not known. She kept most of her details away from the public domain. She lived a very private life and hardly spoke about herself to the media. She is widely known as the wife of comedian, singer, actor and variety performer Max Bygraves.

Blossom met her then-future spouse Max Bygraves while she was in the WAAF. At the time they met, her husband Max Bygraves served in The Royal Air Force (RAF) while she was in The Women’s Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF). They came across each other and they were attracted. The pair soon began a romantic relationship.

Blossom Murray and Max Bygraves dated for a while before deciding to get married. The pair got married on September 12, 1942. They welcomed three children into the world. Their children are called Anthony Bygraves, Maxine Bygraves, and Christine Bygraves. The couple’s marriage was not all rosy.

Blossom’s husband Max Bygraves wasn’t a faithful husband. Max Bygraves was involved in extramarital affairs which led to the birth of other children. Max became the father of three children from his affairs: Beverly Mayhew-Sass, Stephen Rose, and John Rice. Although Max Bygraves cheated on his beloved wife, they were never divorced.

What Happened To Max Bygraves’ Wife?

Max Bygraves’ wife Blossom Murray died in 2011 at the age of 88 in Australia. She had been suffering from a long-term chest complaint. She and her beloved husband had moved from Bournemouth to Queensland, Australia, in 2008. Her son Anthony said as he paid tribute to his ‘perfect’ mother:

‘She was always kind and thoughtful and dearly loved her kids. ‘She always supported Dad in everything he did and was probably the proudest wife anyone could imagine.’ Blossom is survived by her children and several grandchildren.

Blossom Murray’s husband, Max Bygraves died on 31 August 2012, at age 89, in Hope Island, Queensland, Australia. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2010, and he died from complications of this illness at his daughter’s home.
