Most Ghanaians to date do not understand why the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo could set his own laws and not obey them but expect Ghanaians to follow them strictly.
The President in all his addresses to the Nation on measures taken to combat the spread of Covid-19, entreat all Ghanaians to wear their nose masks and observe all the safety protocols.
He has made Ghanaians understand that the only time the protocols will be no more is when we have zero active cases of the Coronavirus.
As of 2nd June 2021, our active cases of the Covid-19 stood at one thousand, and seventy-nine (1,079) with 16 severe cases and 6 on the critical edge of dying. The virus has so far killed seven hundred and eighty-seven (787) since arriving in the country.
The Covid-19 vaccines cannot be a reason to let down our guard. This is because we have not been able to roll this medicine to even a quarter of our population and the President himself said that we cannot stop obeying the safety protocols until the majority of Ghanaians are vaccinated with the vaccine.
But what happened last week Thursday, 3rd June 2021 at the funeral grounds on the late Mr. Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie aka Sir John was an eyesore. Most people who attended the funeral disregarded the Covid-19 safety protocol in the presence of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, his Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and other New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) officials.
Most Ghanaians after coming across this viral video at the funeral ground of Sir John descended on President Akufo-Addo and his entourage for not setting a good example for the citizens to follow. It was upon this that Tilapia The Cartoonist drew this cartoon this morning to add up to what actually happened at the funeral ground and the state of the nation on the Covid-19 vaccine.’
This is what Tilapia wrote on his official Facebook page:
What Tilapia The Cartoonist was trying to say in the cartoon is that we are begging for Covid-19 vaccines meanwhile we are not living our lives as people who need other countries’ help to fight the virus.
