Who Is Elaine LaLanne’s Son, Daniel LaLanne?

Daniel LaLanne also known as Daniel ‘Dan’ Doyle is the son of Elaine LaLanne aka Lala LaLanne and her first husband Joseph Doyle but his date of birth is unknown. His mother is a fitness expert and author but his father has lived a private life so much is publicly unknown about his life. After his parents got divorced, his mother married fitness and nutrition guru and motivational speaker Jack LaLanne.

Jack LaLanne adopted Daniel and his sister Janet LaLanne aka Janet Doyle after marrying their mother Elaine. Jack and Elaine who got married on September 24, 1959, had a son Jon LaLanne. Jack had a daughter Yvonne LaLanne from his first marriage. Daniel had a good relationship with his adopted father Jack. Jack died of respiratory failure due to pneumonia on January 23, 2011, at age 96, in Morro Bay, California, U.S.

“He was always joking around, showing his muscles, and he’d go, ‘Why don’t you hit me in the stomach as hard as you can?’” Daniel LaLanne recalled to Closer Weekly. “I’d take my fist, wind up, and my hand would just bounce off his stomach. My hand hurt more than his stomach did. He probably didn’t even feel it!” He said Jack “wasn’t your typical Leave It to Beaver type of father.”

Daniel’s sister Yvonne LaLanne also said: “It was unusual having a father of that build. You don’t often have fathers who walk on their hands at birthday parties.” Yvonne added that her father Jack LaLanne “had a gift for selling and presenting information. He did it in the service of good health.” Jack continued to perform his daily workout routine even the day before his death. Daniel said of Jack:

“He worked out the day he died. He was in bed, and he knew it was getting close. He goes, ‘Danny, get me a weight.’ I handed one to him, and he had it in his hand when he passed away.” Daniel added, “He started a movement that’s unstoppable now. He changed people’s minds and the way they live.” Jack was a pioneer, lifelong instructor, and living example of the physical fitness lifestyle. He was known as the “godfather of fitness.”

Daniel LaLanne’s adopted father Jack LaLanne motivated people around the world to help themselves by improving their health. He often said, “Exercise is king, nutrition is queen, put them together and you’ve got a kingdom.” He hosted The Jack LaLanne Show, which ran from 1951 to 1985. He was the writer of books on fitness and nutrition such as “Live Young Forever”. He appeared as himself in several films and television shows.

Jack was inducted into the California Hall of Fame and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was awarded The President’s Council’s Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the advancement or promotion of physical activity, fitness, or sports nationwide. He was posthumously inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame alongside his wife Elaine LaLanne.

Meanwhile, Daniel LaLanne has lived quietly. He doesn’t share much information about his personal life. He and his family are working together to keep his father Jack LaLanne’s legacy alive. He is involved in the family business, BeFit Enterprises. Daniel may have his own family but he prefers to keep them away from the spotlight. Daniel LaLanne’s Sister Died In A Car Accident

Daniel LaLanne’s sister Janet LaLanne was killed in a car accident. According to the Police, Janet lost control of her car and was thrown from the vehicle as it rolled over several times. She died at a local hospital of chest and abdominal injuries, sources say. She died at the age of 21 years on 24 May 1973, in Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, USA, according to Findagrave.

Janet LaLanne was in Michigan to work in summer stock productions at the Barn Theater in Augusta. She was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles County, California, USA. She is survived by her mother Elaine LaLanne, siblings Daniel LaLanne, half-siblings Jon LaLanne and Yvonne LaLanne, and other relatives. Her mother Elaine is 98 years old as of 2024. She continues to exercise every day in her home gym.
