Day3-Election Petition: "We Are Not Superman Humans"

January 20, 2021, the third day of the hearing of the election petition brought up by John Mahama against the Electoral Commissioner and Akufo-Addo. As we know The Petitioner (John Mahama) filed an election petition claiming that the results did not reflect what actually happened on the ground and is requesting a rerun.

Yesterday saw the court met but they ended only making a ruling on 12 points Interlocutrices brought up by the Petitioner against the 1st Respondent, which is the Electoral Commissioner.

Today, as in January 20, 2021 the court met and ruled on the mode of trial. One of the terms was that the Petitioner had to file its witness statements and evidence if necessary by tomorrow and this didn’t go down well with Tsatsu Tsikata, the lead counsel for the Petitioner.

“Respectfully, we are not super humans to do that. We just have a day to file witness statement and this is not much. Justice must not be exercised for expedition

He said

According to Tsatsu Tsikata it was impossible to have witness statements made by tomorrow. He maintained that the Petitioner will find it difficult to file 5 witness statements with the time frame given.
