Debraca Denise is the stepdaughter of Redd Foxx and his ex-wife, Betty Jean Harris. Debraca Denise’s stepfather was an American stand-up comedian and actor who gained massive success with his raunchy nightclub acts during the civil rights movement. Sometimes referred to as the “King of the Party Records” by fans, he performed on more than 50 records in his lifetime. As an actor, he starred in Sanford and Son and starred in The Redd Foxx Show and The Royal Family.

Debraca Denise was born in 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri, United States of America to African American parents. She might be 67 years old as of 2024 and holds an American nationality. Later she was adopted by the late comedian John Elroy Sanford (Redd Foxx) when her mother Betty Jean Harris got married to the comedian. She was adopted at the age of nine and she assumed the surname “Foxx.” Unfortunately, Denise’s biological father’s identity is not known.

Debraca Denise’s mother, Betty Jean Harris was a showgirl and dancer, who was a colleague of LaWanda Page. The couple first met at a nightclub where they were appearing on the same bill. The couple bonded over their common interests and shared a relationship.

On July 5, 1956, the two love birds walked down the aisle in a beautiful wedding ceremony. As per their agreement, Debraca Denise’s mother, Harris gave up her career in show business to become a full-time housewife. Harris’s nine-year-old daughter, Denise, from a previous relationship, was also adopted by Redd Foxx she assumed the surname “Foxx.”

Betty Jean Harris handled most of her Foxx’s business ventures such as Redd Foxx Enterprises, which included a chain of record stores in Los Angeles. Though they promised to be together forever, things didn’t go as planned as the couple separated in 1974 due to Foxx’s infidelity. 

After 18 years of marriage, Foxx filed for divorce on the grounds of incompatibility in May 1974. The legendary comedian also obtained a restraining order that prevented Harris from “removing, hiding or secreting property” from their home in Las Vegas, and she had to return $110,000 that was removed from bank accounts. After the couple finalized their divorce, much was not heard from Harris.

Since Redd Foxx adopted Debraca Denise as his child, she is, therefore, his surviving child when he passed away on October 11, 1991, at the age of 68 in  Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center Emergency Room, Los Angeles, California, United States.

As the legal daughter of John Elroy Sanford (Redd Foxx),  Debreca was once named the administrator of the estate after his death as he died without a Will. Foxx was also married to Ka Ho Cho for the last three months of his life. She and Debreca are believed to be Foxx’s sole heirs, Clark County Public Administrator John J. Cahill told the Las Vegas Review Journal.

According to the publication, shortly before his death, the IRS foreclosed on his Eastern Avenue home. Clark County Public Administrator John J. Cahill told the Las Vegas Review Journal that Redd Foxx Foxx died in debt and in trouble with the IRS. Comedian Eddie Murphy is reported to have paid for Foxx’s lavish funeral.

They exchanged vows in Beverly Wilshire Hotel’s Grand Ballroom per TUKO. The comedian’s daughter has not made the news in recent years but she was a part of controversies when her step-father’s fourth wife claimed she was not able to provide accounts and receipts of revenue after her father’s death. Likewise, she was also accused of misuse of funds.
