Linda Urick is known by many as the daughter of Ed Ames. Linda Urick’s father is known for playing Mingo in the television series Daniel Boone. He is also known as the leader of the Ames Brother singer group and for their pop number #1 hits of the mid-to-late 1960s including “My Cup Runneth Over”, ‘”Time, Time” and “When the Snow Is on the Roses”.

Ed Ames was born on July 9, 1927, in Malden, Massachusetts to Jewish parents Sarah (Zaslavskaya) and David Urick (aka Eurich), who had emigrated from Ukraine. He was the youngest of nine children. Information related to the age, date of birth, and exact place of birth of Linda Urick is unknown. This information has not been made available to the public. However, Linda passed away in 2007 of an unknown cause.

Linda Urick was one of the three children that came out of Ed’s first marriage with  Sara Cacheiro. Her other two siblings are Ronald Urick and Sonya Urick. Though her parents’ marriage started on a good note, things took a different turn after they were together for about 23 years. Linda Urick’s parents divorced on October 5, 1973, in Santa Monica, California.

Linda Urick’s father is 96 years old as of 2023. He got married to his second wife Jeanne Arnold Saviano in 1998. At the age of 47, Ames, saying “I am a secular Jew, but I feel strongly about Israel and the Jewish communities of Europe“, became president of the Los Angeles chapter of the Zionist Organization of America.

Ed Ames formed his singing group while in High school

At a young age while in High school, Ames joined his brothers Vic, Joe, and Gene as to form the legendary singing group, the Ames Brothers. Together the brothers scored several pop hits in the ’50s, including the double-sided single “Rag Mop” and “Sentimental Me” and RCA Victor releases “It Only Hurts For a Little While” and “The Naughty Lady of Shady Lane.”

The group’s 1959 album The Ames Brothers Sing the Best in the Country includes covers of “Tennessee Waltz,” “Riders in the Sky,” “San Antonio Rose” and Hank Williams’ “Jambalaya (On the Bayou)” and “Your Cheatin’ Heart.” The Ames Brothers singing group disbanded in the early ’60s, this made Ed to pursue an acting career. His earliest credits included off Broadway productions of The Fantasticks and Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, plus a national touring version of Carnival.

Ames got cast as Mingo, the Native American friend of TV’s Daniel Boone which skyrocketed the fame of Linda’s father. Ames became skilled at throwing tomahawks: a talent he showed off during a 1965 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.
