Emilio Guzmán Loera is the brother of Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera also known as El Chapo. Emilio’s brother El Chapo was a drug lord. He led the Sinaloa Cartel, an international crime syndicate. He was once considered Mexico’s most-wanted drug lord and the world’s most-wanted criminal. He is considered to have been one of the most powerful drug traffickers in the world.

Who Is Emilio Guzmán Loera?

Emilio Guzmán Loera is recognized as one of the siblings of Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera (El Chapo). Emilio’s parents are Emilio Guzmán Bustillos and María Consuelo Loera Pérez. He was born into a poor family. His father was a cattle rancher and might have also been a gomero, an opium poppy farmer. His family lived at La Tuna for many generations.

Details regarding Emilio Guzmán Loera’s parents’ marriage are unknown. Both parents, María Consuelo Loera Pérez and Emilio Guzmán Bustillos lived a private life. Emilio was raised alongside his siblings El Chapo, Miguel Ángel Guzmán Loera, Arturo Guzmán Loera, Aureliano Guzmán Loera, Bernarda Guzmán Loera, Ovidio Guzmán Loera, and Armida Guzmán Loera.

Emilio Guzmán Loera also had three unnamed older brothers who reportedly died of natural causes. His paternal grandparents were Juan Guzmán and Otilia Bustillos, and his maternal grandparents were Ovidio Loera Cobret and Pomposa Pérez Uriarte. There is little information on the internet regarding Emilio’s life as a child. His childhood experiences have not been made public.

However, according to his brother El Chapo’s Wikipedia page, their father was physically abusive. El Chapo protected his younger siblings from being beaten by their father, for which possibly El Chapo incurred his father’s wrath for trying to stop him from beating them. El Chapo chose to cultivate opium poppy and during harvest season, he and his brothers hiked the hills of Badiraguato to cut the bud of the poppy.

When the plant was stacked in kilos, their father Emilio Guzmán Bustillos sold the harvest to other suppliers in Culiacán and Guamúchil. Bustillos and his son El Chapo would sell marijuana at commercial centers near the area. Bustillos finished most of the profits on liquor and women, often returning home with no money. El Chapo at age 15 cultivated his own marijuana plantation, supporting his family with his marijuana production.

Meanwhile, information related to Emilio Guzmán Loera’s education is not known. It is unknown if Emilio was involved in drug trafficking like his brother Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán. Several members of his family are heavily involved in drug trafficking. His brothers Miguel Ángel Guzmán Loera, Arturo Guzmán Loera, and Aureliano Guzmán Loera were also involved in the drug trafficking business.

Miguel Ángel Guzmán Loera was responsible for buying real estate to be used as safe houses and acquiring vehicles to be used by members of the Sinaloa Cartel, a large, international organized crime syndicate that specializes in illegal drug trafficking and money laundering. His brother Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán is a former leader within the Sinaloa Cartel.

Miguel Ángel was arrested on June 16, 2005, in Culiacán, Sinaloa for money laundering and possession of a weapon but was released after he served his sentence of almost 12 years. Arturo Guzmán Loera assumed leadership in the Sinaloa Cartel while his brother El Chapo was in prison. Later, he was arrested in a drug trafficking operation.

Arturo was killed with a pistol in prison, on 31 December 2004. Aureliano Guzmán Loera handled an important fraction of the Sinaloa cartel. Under the umbrella of the Sinaloa Cartel, his drug trafficking organization (DTO) controls drug smuggling routes from Sinaloa, Mexico, through Sonora, Mexico, and into the United States. Federal forces were deployed to capture Aureliano.

Joaquín Guzmán’s brother, Emilio Guzmán Loera prefers a life away from publicity. He doesn’t put his information out there to the public so much is unknown about his life. He may have a family of his but their information is not known. He is believed to be alive but his whereabouts are unknown.
