Emily Sold her Brooklyn condo for just under $1M

Emily Evelyn Chase, the youngest daughter of actor/comedian Chevy Chase, sold her Park Slope apartment at 145 Park Place for its full asking price of $989,000. According to the New York Post, she bought the condo with her father in 2018 for $912,000.

The fourth-floor, one-bedroom, one-bathroom condo is 1,060 square feet. It’s in a complex that includes a landmarked eight-story building facing Park Place and a new construction building facing Flatbush. The chic unit also boasts bamboo floors, high ceilings, oversize windows, lots of closet space, and views of the city skyline, including the World Trade Center. The condo opens to a foyer that leads to an open living/dining area — and an alcove that can work as a home office.

Emily now works remotely and no longer has to be at the Audubon office in the West Village. She used the proceeds of the sale to buy her own house — near her parents. “Moving back in with my parents in my 30s was quite an experiment,” Chevy Chase’s daughter told Gimme. “It’s been a lot of fun. We are big animal people. Between us, there are three cats, four dogs, some chickens and a couple of old horses.”

She also revealed that she loved her Brooklyn apartment, its proximity to Prospect Park, and that she’s “sad to see it go.” Chevy took to his Instagram to congratulate his daughter Emily Evelyn Chase on the sale of the apartment.

Emily Evelyn Chase’s mother Jayni Chase advocates for the environment and spreads the word about green issues. Her father has stood by their side in their advocacy. In May 2019, the comedian shared a video of his and his wife’s speech on Instagram when they were honored by Bedford 2030, a local environmental group devoted to tackling climate change. 

Emily Evelyn Chase’s mother is the third woman her father took to the alter. Chevy’s first marriage was to Susan Hewitt in New York City on February 23, 1973. They divorced on February 1, 1976. He moved on and married his second wife, Jacqueline Carlin, which was formalized on December 4, 1976, and ended in divorce on November 14, 1980.

Emily Evelyn Chase’s parents met while working together on the 1981 comedy movie Under the Rainbow. “He flirted with me and pursued me, but I didn’t take it seriously,” her mother recalled to This Emotional Life.

“There was some big guy coming into the production office flirting with me. Then, one day, I made a rather-flip remark to him, and I looked and saw that he was hurt by it. And I looked in those brown eyes, and I said, ‘Oh, I think there’s a nice guy there…’ And there is. He did have to pursue me because I really wasn’t wanting to be in a relationship.“- Jayni Chase said.
