Fire Rages Fuel Storage Tank In Kpone.

On Tuesday March 2, around 7:23pm,a fuel storage tank located in Kpone car park (tanker yard) gusted fire.

Information gathered at the scene reveals that, workers at the tanker yard in the process of trying to transfer fuel from the one tank to another, caught fire in the event.

According to Division Officer (DO3), Asiedu Baafuo,the second in command and in charge of operations at Devraco,he stated that he received a call around 7:23pm prompting him of the fire outbreak.


According to him,fire tenders arrived at the scene 7 minutes after the call.
He added that,due to the rate at which the fire was high, it took them 30 minutes to control the fire without quenching it totally.

Adding up to the 30 minutes it took them another 15 minutes to quench the fire totally.

He indicated that the products that was on fire is a difficult product to quench when on fire.
He applauded his men for the good work done.

An eye witness who is also a worker in a filtering shop very close to the yard mentioned that, they where getting ready to go home when the fire started.

He added that some workers sleep at the work place.
“The fire has burnt part of some cars here “, he said.
He noted that the owners of car on hearing the out break have come to claim their cars.


However,the cause of the fire is unknown but investigations are going on to find the actual cause of the fire.
