According to Billboard, his death was confirmed by an obituary posted on the Atchley Funeral Home. His sister Stella Parton shared a picture of herself and Floyd and wrote: “And Jesus said to him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.” She added, “Have a beautiful day on this bright and brisk Thursday. I am spending the day with my beautiful brother Floyd.”

The family released a statement about their loss. “Dolly, and the entire Parton family, wish to thank everyone for their kindness,” it read. “Yesterday, we laid our sweet baby brother to rest. We sang his lovely song ‘Rocking Years’, together as a family at the service to say goodbye to him. He lived a short life of love and beautiful songs.”
