Bob and Ginny’s decades-long romance dates back to 1962. According to some sources, Ginny Newhart met her lifelong husband, Bob Newhart, on a blind date, set up by comedian Buddy Hackett, in Los Angeles in 1962. Ginny who at that time was serving as the babysitter for Hackett’s children when one day Buddy Hackett had a conversation with her concerning Bob- He revealed that- “he’s Catholic and you’re Catholic, and I think maybe you should marry each other”.
However, young Ginny Newhart did not want to exchange vows with someone from the entertainment industry like her father who would not get a paycheck every week. The young lady decided to give it a try and they soon met, had dinner together, and played pool at Hackett’s house.
The couple eventually build a strong bond and got married on January 12, 1963. Even with the bond, Ginny was unsure even on the day of her marriage, when her father reportedly had joked that he could still get her out of it if she wanted.
