The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) announced it’s plans to change the previously issued Tax Identification Numbers of individuals to their Ghana national ID card numbers.
It was indicated that, implementation is expected to commence on April 1, 2021.
The Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) is a unique Identification number issued to taxpayers and potential taxpayers.
A letter spotted dated 31st April 2021, has it that, The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and the Registrar – General’s Department(RGD) in collaboration with the National Identification Authority (NIA) wishes to inform the general public that, the Ghana card personal identification number (Ghana card pin) will replace the Taxpayer Identification Number(TIN) from April 1st 2021.
According to the letter, the change is in line with the government’s policy on the use of a unique identifier for all transactions where the identification of an individual is required.
Some measures have been instituted to ensure a seamless roll-out of the initiative.
“Registration officials of the National Identification Authority (NIA) are currently stationed at fourteen (14) GRA offices across the country to register individuals who do not possess a Ghana card”, part of the letter stated.
