Ghanaians were thrown into a state of Anger when news broke out that Emmanuel Okyere Baffour, a 28-year-old man, was accused of murdering his wife, Jessica Affi, in cold blood in Bibiani Degede and took to his heels.
It was long before the Ghana police were able to catch up with him in his hideout when he was trying to commit suicide and had him in their custody.
The Bibiani Magistrate Court was full of drama as the alleged wife killer was brought to the witness box to defend himself.
Emmanuel Okyere Baffour was brought to the court premises by a police vehicle in handcuffs. He was brought before the court and the people in the area ceased whatever they were doing and moved to the court premises in their numbers to witness what will happen to the man.
The presiding judge, His Worship Peter Depilah Banoe after listening to the charges asked Emmanuel Okyere Baffour if he was guilty. To the surprise of many who had gathered in the court premises, Emmanuel denied ever committing the crime. He told the court that he is not guilty of the crime because he did not kill the wife as being alleged by many.
It was also revealed that the man who killed his wife at Bibiani Dagede also subjected the accused to inhumane treatment during their two years of marriage to the extent that, he forced the now-deceased wife to drink urine at some point.
The Prosecuting Officer Chief Inspector Benjamin Owusu Agyemang revealed this in Bibiani Magistrate Court Presided Over by His Worship Peter Dapileh Banoe court on Friday, August 13, 2021, when the accused made his first appearance in court.

The presiding judge then remanded him in custody, ordering him to appear in court again on August 27, 2021. The audience began gazing at him with astonishment as he was being returned to jail. They were perplexed as to why Emmanuel would deny killing his wife despite overwhelming proof to the contrary. It is uncertain what more information Emmanuel may provide to the court in the following days, but he has pled not guilty for the time being. The deceased’s family was also represented in court in large numbers to seek justice for their lost loved one.
