Jason Markham’s father Monte Markham is an actor and filmmaker who has been active in the movie industry since the 1960s. He appeared in series including The Second Hundred Years, Dan August, Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, The F.B.I., The New Perry Mason, Medical Center, Barnaby Jones, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Invisible Man, Police Woman, Hawaii Five-O, Dallas, Jack Holborn, Fantasy Island, Rituals, Baywatch, and Murder, She Wrote.

Monte Markham has also played roles in films such as Hour of the Gun, Project X, Guns of the Magnificent Seven, Ginger in the Morning, Midway, Airport ’77, Shame, Shame on the Bixby Boys, Separate Ways, Off the Wall, Jake Speed, Judgement Day, Neon City, Frame by Frame, Beach Bar: The Movie, Music High, Life Partners, We Are Still Here, Get Married or Die, and Silent Life: The Story of the Lady in Black.

Monte Markham worked at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in the summer of 1961, where he played Horatio in Hamlet. He made his Broadway debut in 1973 in Irene, for which he won the Theatre World Award. He appeared on Broadway in Same Time, Next Year (1975). He directed the films Defense Play and Neon City and television series including Skycrane, Baywatch, Biography, and The Great Ships.

Jason Markham’s father Monte Markham is the producer of Air Combat, Masters of War, The Great Ships, Biography, and Fly Past and executive producer of Boneyard: Where Machines End Their Lives and Boneyard: The Secret Life of Machines. He appeared as himself on The Mike Douglas Show, It’s Your Bet, The Green Girl, and Mitzi & 100 Guys.

Monte formed the production company, Perpetual Motion Films with his wife, Klaire, and son, Jason. He said of what inspired him to do more producing and directing: “I’d just finished directing my second feature, Neon City, and we were planning the 3rd season of Baywatch. The offer came up to produce and direct Air Combat, 13 1-hour documentaries for US News and A&E.”

“Though this meant I could no longer stay with Baywatch, it was an irresistible opportunity to take on a new and very different challenge. I never anticipated 20 years of incredible life adventures.” Monte said he had “always wanted to produce and direct” his own films. He also revealed that: “About ten years ago I was hired by US News to do some news specials.”

“It was then that I decided to form a company, Perpetual Motion Productions, with my wife Claire, and we did the first 10 biographies for the weekly A&E Biography series, and we have done other series such as “Air Combat” and “The Great Ships.” I will try to act in roles occasionally, but it is hard, since as a producer my wife and son and I have to travel all over the world for the documentaries. We have filmed in China, Great Britain, and many other wonderful places.”
