Who Is George Strait’s Daughter, Jenifer Strait?
Jenifer Lynn Strait was welcomed into the world on October 6, 1972, in Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA to singer, songwriter, and actor, George Harvey Strait Sr and his wife Norma Strait. She was the first child and only daughter of her parents. Her father George enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Hawaii shortly after he married Norma.
George and Norma were high school sweethearts who decided to elope after their high school graduation. They married on December 4, 1971, before George enlisted in the United States Army. While in Hawaii, George and Norma had their first child, Jenifer. Jenifer has a younger brother George Harvey Strait Jr., also known as “Bubba”. Bubba was born in the year 1981.
Jenifer and Bubba were very close to each other. Jenifer was always looking out for her younger brother and cared for him in her own way. She also had a great relationship with her mother and father. Her parents George Strait and Norma Strait did their best to provide for Jenifer and her brother Bubba. Bubba graduated from Texas A&M and competed as a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association team-roping competitor.
Jenifer’s younger brother is also a talented singer and songwriter. He is a married man, married to Tamara, and has two children, George “Harvey” Strait III and Jillian Louise Strait. Jenifer’s paternal grandparents were John Byron Strait Sr. (January 11, 1922 – June 4, 2013) and Doris Jean Couser (June 26, 1930 – January 30, 2010). Jenifer’s life was cut short after she died at a very young age.

What Happened To George Strait’s Daughter?
Jenifer Strait died in a car accident in San Marcos on June 25, 1986. She was just 13 years old at the time she died. She was riding with three friends in a Ford Mustang when the driver lost control of the vehicle as he attempted to take a turn too fast. The car rolled over, not far from the Strait home. Jenifer whose window was open and had no seat belt on was partially ejected from the car.
Jenifer’s friends suffered minor injuries and were treated at a local hospital, and later released. The driver who survived the accident unhurt was charged with Class A vehicular homicide in connection with the death of Jenifer Strait. The family set up the Jenifer Lynn Strait Foundation, which “promotes charitable causes for children, and focuses its donations on various nonprofit organizations.”
Jenifer Strait’s father George Strait said of Jenifer on the foundation’s website: “Jenifer had so many special friends. So many that Norma and I couldn’t keep up with them a lot of the time. But we never met one of them we didn’t like. They were special to her; they were special to us. Her very special love of all though was her brother Bubba.”
“To watch them together, and the way she watched over him made us know he was always safe with her, no matter what. He loved her back in the same way, and always will, just as we always will. She was like a second mother to Bubba in a way. They had their arguments like brother, and sister do but in the end she always made Bubba feel like he came out on top.”
“Her cousins Shane, Wade, Kara, Trey and Walker were also special to her. There was always closeness between them that I don’t ever remember having when I was young. They all love each other very much. We will all miss Jenifer very much, and we will never forget her, her smile, and laugh.” Jenifer’s death affected her family and loved ones.

Jenifer’s father George Strait revealed that he became “real private” after he lost his daughter”. He “really shut things down.” However, George told PEOPLE that he and his wife “were blessed to have been able to spend 13 years” with their “beautiful daughter Jenifer”. Jenifer was buried at Pearsall Cemetery, Pearsall, Frio County, Texas, USA.
