John ‘Jack’ Alexander Luetkemeyer, Jr was born on April 2, 1941, in Baltimore Co., MD. He is the son of John Alexander Luetkemeyer Sr., a Treasurer of Maryland, and Anne Austin McLanahan. John Sr. was born in Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio and he fought for the safety of the U.S. during World War II. Anne was born in Baltimore, Maryland. John Jr is not the only child of his parents. He is the brother of Anne and Jean Luetkemeyer.

John Jr graduated from the Lawrenceville School and Williams College, class of ‘63. He earned an M.B.A. at New York University. He worked with the First National City Bank in New York. He became a commercial real estate developer. He met Suzanne (née Frey), the woman he would marry. How the two met for the first time and how long they dated is unknown.
