Kathy Evanstad was born in the United States in the year 1951 to Arlene Evanstad (née Dart) and Alba Evenstad. Her parents were both professional dancers. She has two sisters: Carol ‘Charlie’ Evanstad also known as Carol Davidson (1941-2022) and Linda Evenstad also known as Linda Evans (November 18, 1942). Her last name Evanstad is of Norwegian origin.
“Evenstad” was the name of the small farm in Nes, Hedmark, in Norway from where Kathy’s paternal great-grandmother emigrated to the United States in 1884 with her young son (Kathy’s grandfather) and a few relatives. Kathy grew up alongside her elder sisters Carol and Linda. The sisters have remained very close to each other.

Linda Evans authored Recipes for Life. “A few years ago, I wrote a book about my life with a lot of recipes, and cooking has been a passion of mine for years. That book exists because of my love for cooking. It got me out of my depression, and that was beautiful,” she said. She has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
