What happened to Dusty Rhodes?

In his later years, Kristin Runnels Ditto’s father Dusty Rhodes suffered from kidney disease. On June 10, 2015, paramedics responded to a call from his home in Orlando, Florida, reporting that the wrestler had fallen. Rhodes was taken to a nearby hospital, however, he didn’t make it.

He was pronounced dead the next day at the age of 69 from the effects of kidney failure. The wrestler was cremated after his death, and his ashes were spread by Dustin on a ranch that Rhodes loved to visit. The wrestler is survived by his second wife, Michelle Runnels, his two sons, Dustin and Cody, and his two daughters, Teil Runnels Gergel and Kristin Runnels Ditto. After Dusty Rhodes’s death, the Money in the Bank pay-per-view event that year, a ten-bell salute was given in honor of him, with the entire WWE roster and the McMahon family on the entrance ramp. The next night on Raw, they honored him with a video tribute and a special after Raw on the WWE Network. At the NXT tapings following his death, he was honored with another ten-bell salute.
