Lee Starkey is the daughter of Richard Starkey popularly known as Ringo Starr. Lee’s father is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and actor who achieved international fame as the drummer for the Beatles. He was inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as a Beatle in 1988 and as a solo artist in 2015. He was also appointed a Knight Bachelor in the 2018 New Year Honours for services to music.

Who Is Ringo And Maureen’s Daughter, Lee Starkey?

Lee Starkey is the daughter of Ringo Starr and his late ex-wife Maureen Starkey. She was born Lee Parkin Starkey on 11 November 1970 at Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital, in Hammersmith, London. She celebrates her birthday once every year and will be celebrating her 53rd birthday in 2023, on 11 November.

Lee Starkey’s mother was a hairdresser and her father is a musician, singer, songwriter, and actor. Both parents were born in Liverpool, England. Lee is not the only child of her parents. She has two biological siblings: drummer Zak Starkey and musician/photographer Jason Starkey. She has a half-sister called Augusta Tigrett from her mother’s side.

Lee Starkey is the stepdaughter of Isaac Tigrett, a businessman, best known as the co-founder of Hard Rock Café and House of Blues. She is also the stepdaughter of actress and model Barbara Bach. Lee was one of the bridesmaids along with her new step-sister, Francesca Gregorini (Barbara Bach’s daughter) at Ringo Starr and Barbara Bach’s wedding.

Lee Starkey had a problem with the kind of profession she wants to pursue. At age 16, she left King Alfred’s School in Hampstead with no qualifications. She was employed at Tower Records and enrolled briefly in drama school but dropped out because she didn’t like it. She then enrolled in a makeup artist school.

Lee Starkey was able to get her diploma but she didn’t like it either. She worked at Tower Records and A Hard Rock Cafe, which was owned by her stepfather, Isaac Tigrett. She co-starred in a car commercial with her father Ringo Starr. At the time she was a teenager, she was fond of the punk/goth scene and dressed in black and dyed her hair purple.

Lee Starkey was the co-owner of a clothes boutique, Planet Alice, Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, USA. She opened the boutique with her friend Christian Paris. The boutique specialized in 1960s clothes. However, things didn’t work out and it close within a year. She still went on to continue working as a fashion designer after the shop’s closure.

Per her IMDb profile, in 1998, she sang backup vocals on “La De Da” on Ringo’s “Vertical Man.” She is a make-up artist and a fashion designer. She has been in a romantic relationship with musician Jay Mehler since 2006. They have triplets, two boys Smokey and Jakamo, and one girl, Ruby Tiger.

What Happened To Lee Starkey?

Lee Starkey has survived two brain tumors. First, in August 1995, she collapsed in England and was rushed to the hospital. She was then diagnosed with a brain tumor. She reportedly had numbness in her leg and arm. The tumor was curable. She was transferred to a hospital in the US to continue her treatments.

Lee Starkey underwent a second operation within three weeks at Brigham Women’s Hospital, Boston, and this time for a tumor. She was then given radiation treatment. Despite treatments, the tumor returned in 2001 and she went back for more treatments. She was able to beat it and has fully recovered.

Lee Starkey Took Care Of Her Mother

Lee Starkey put everything she was doing on pause to be at her mother Maureen Starkey Tigrett’s side when she was diagnosed with leukemia. She stayed with her mother, taking care of her. Unfortunately, Maureen died at age 48, on 30 December 1994, in Seattle, Washington, US, due to complications from leukemia, after receiving treatment at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Washington. Lee and her siblings, stepfather Isaac Tigrett, 82-year-old grandmother, and father Ringo Starr were by her mother’s bedside when she passed away.
