Marcia Gresham was born in  South Africa in 1958 to her parents Wilfred Jacobson and Muriel Jean Patricia Gershon. She is 66 years old as of 2023. Though she was born in South Africa, she was raised in the English town of Westcliff-on-Sea in Essex. She also traced her ancestry to Jewish immigrants from Germany, Lithuania, Poland, and Russia. She stands at height of 4′ 11¾” (1.52 m).

Marcia wanted her son to concentrate on schooling not acting

According to multiple sources, casting an actor to play Harry Potter was a big challenge, however, Director Chris Columbus suggested Daniel to the Casting Director after he saw him in Copperfield (1999). The Casting Director revealed  Daniel Radcliffe’s parents want him to focus on his schoolwork and not acting. Later the Philosopher’s Stone’s producer and screenwriter meet Marcia’s husband at the theater and they were able to convince him to let Daniel take the role.

On Warner Brothers delaying filming of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004, Marcia Gresham said– “Honestly, Warner Brothers make our lives easy. They even delayed filming the latest film so he (Daniel) could start at his new school and have one term of being normal”.
