Menachem Meyerson is the son of Israeli politician Golda Meir. Menachem’s mother Golda was a former Prime Minister of Israel. She held several key roles in the Jewish Agency during and after the Second World War. She was a signatory of the Israeli Declaration of Independence in 1948.

Menachem Meyerson (Meir) was born on November 23, 1924, in Jerusalem, Israel. Morris Meyerson (also “Myerson”) and Golda Meir were his parents. His mother was an Israeli politician and his father was a sign painter and socialist. His parents were married on December 24, 1917, and remained married until his father’s death.
Menachem Meyerson has a sister called Sarah Meyerson who was born on 17 May 1926 but passed away on 30 January 2010. Menachem’s maternal grandparents were Blume Neiditch (died 1951) and Moshe Mabovitch (died 1944), a carpenter. Menachem reportedly studied at the Conservatory in Tel Aviv.
Menachem Meyerson graduated from the Manhattan School of Music in New York. He earned his MA degree from the University of Connecticut. He is said to have studied with Diran Alexanian, Antonio Janigro, whom he assisted at the Mozarteum, and Pablo Casals. He was a professional cellist and musician.

Meyerson made his debut at Carnegie Recital Hall. He played in a trio with the pianist Menachem Pressler and the violinist Nikadimon Tobin. He performed in concerts widely in Israel, Europe, Canada, the USA, and Central and South America. His repertoire includes a great majority of the cello literature.
Menachem first performed various contemporary works by his country’s composers, some of which were dedicated to him. Menachem directed the Israel Conservatory of Music in Tel-Aviv from the year 1970 to the year 1980. In 1977, before his mother’s death, Menachem took part in a special “Such a Life” program dedicated to her.
Menachem Meyerson published his book “My Mother Golda Meir: A Son’s Evocation of Life with Golda Meir”. He performed and taught at the International Summer Academy Mozarteum (violoncello and chamber music), at the International Advanced Music Courses in Cividale del Friuli (Italy), at the Bowdoin College Summer Festival in Brunswick (Maine, USA), etc.
Menachem Meyerson was a juror at the International Chamber Music Contest in Trapani (Sicily). He played in the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Israel Broadcasting Authority Orchestra. He was married to Hana nee Lotsky, but the two divorced after five years of marriage. They were the parents of a daughter, Meira, who was born with Down syndrome.
Hana was an economist by profession. She remarried Isaiah Weinberg after her divorce from Menachem. Menachem Meyerson also remarried Ila Tzipora (Aya), a child psychiatrist. They had three children: Amnon, Daniel, and Gidi (Gideon).

What Happened To Golda Meir’s Son?
Menachem Meyerson died in December 2014 in Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel, at age 90. What killed him is unknown. He was laid to rest at the cemetery in Kibbutz Rabadi, Israel, according to Geni. His father Morris Meyerson died on May 25, 1951, of a heart attack. His mother Golda Meir died on 8 December 1978, of lymphatic cancer (lymphoma) in Jerusalem at the age of 80. She was buried on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
