He began his career as a child actor under contract to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. He later played a lead role in the 1957 Broadway and 1959 screen adaptation of Compulsion and in 1962 he played Edmund Tyrone in the film version of Long Day’s Journey into Night.

She played Jessie McDermott in an episode of Wagon Train, Betty Lee Parsons in the film Wild in the Country, Tanya, in an episode of The United States Steel Hour, and Aldonza in Girl from La Mancha.

Millie Perkins Has Been Married Twice

Millie Perkins has been married two times to two different men. Her first marriage was to actor Dean Stockwell. She and Dean got married on April 15, 1960, and divorced on July 30, 1962. They had zero children together. She then married writer and director Robert Thom. They got married on December 25, 1964. They had two children: Lillie Thom and Hedy Thom. They got separated but we’re not divorced.

After things didn’t work out in their marriage, Millie felt she was “an emotional misfit. I needed to leave L.A.,” she revealed, “to get away from that feeling of success and failure. I went to what turned out to be the most beautiful spot I’ve ever been in.” In 1976, she settled in Jacksonville, Oreg. with her children. “Raising my children is most important to me,” she said.

“I’d love to have given them one home like the old days, with grandma and sisters and relatives, and never left it. I’ve sort of made gypsies out of them.” Lillie and Hedy spend some time with their father as well. Millie generously describes her ex-husband as “a very special man.” Unfortunately, Robert Thom died on May 8, 1979. Millie had a brief romantic relationship with a local rancher.
