Nick Hurt Lost His Father In 2017

On 25 January 2017, Nick Hurt’s father Sir John Vincent Hurt passed away at his home in Cromer, Norfolk, just three days after his 77th birthday. He died after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Before his death, he announced that he had been diagnosed with early-stage pancreatic cancer. He said: “I have always been open about the way in which I conduct my life and in that spirit I would like to make a statement.”

“I have recently been diagnosed with early-stage pancreatic cancer. I am undergoing treatment and am more than optimistic about a satisfactory outcome, as indeed is the medical team. I am continuing to focus on my professional commitments and will shortly be recording Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell (one of life’s small ironies) for BBC Radio 4”.

After receiving treatment, Nick Hurt’s father John Hurt disclosed that his cancer was in remission in October 2015. “I had a final scan and it’s all gone brilliantly,” he said at the time per Daily Mail. “I had the final scan yesterday [Monday] and I saw my oncologist this morning. I am overjoyed, I am thrilled. It all looks great for the future, it’s fantastic.”

John added that he remains wary of using words such as ‘remission’ even ‘if it’s true’. He is known for his appearance in “A Man for All Seasons”, “The Naked Civil Servant”, “I, Claudius”, “Midnight Express”, “The Elephant Man”, “Alien”, “Heaven’s Gate”, “Scandal”, and “Rob Roy”. He played Mr. Ollivander in the Harry Potter film series (2001–11).
