Patrick Martin Lovato also known as Patrick Lovato was born on August 10, 1960, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, U.S.A. His parents are Frank N Lovato and Evangeline Lovato. He may have siblings but there is no information about them. He was of Nuevomexicano descent, largely Spanish and Native American ancestors.

Following Patrick Lovato and Dianna De La Garza’s separation, their daughter Demi Lovato stayed away from her father Patrick. Demi did not want to develop a relationship with Patrick after her parents divorced. Demi’s single “For the Love of a Daughter,” released in 2011, was written about her estranged relationship with him.

Demi Lovato spoke about her abusive and strained relationship with her father. She once confessed that her father was mean. She said,
“He was mean, but he wanted to be a good person. And he wanted to have his family, and when my mom married my stepdad, he still had this huge heart where he said, ‘I’m so glad that [he’s] taking care of you and doing the job that I wish I could do.”
Meanwhile, Patrick Lovato’s ex-wife Dianna De La Garza has also revealed the reason she got divorced from Patrick. Patrick battled substance abuse which was out of control, and he couldn’t hold a job. Dianna initially decided to stay in the marriage after she got to realize that she was pregnant with Demi.
Dianna finally got the courage to leave Patrick shortly after their then-little daughter Demi celebrated her second birthday. Dianna said she thought she could help Patrick change. She added that her daughters’ well-being was the main reason she decided to end her marriage.
Dianna said that talking about the abuse she suffered in her marriage is “still very hard,” but sharing her story is “therapeutic.”
What happened to him
Patrick Lovato took his final breath on June 22, 2013. He died in Dallas, Texas, U.S.A. of cancer when he was 52 years old. After his death, his daughter Demi Lovato spoke about his death. She mentioned that he had been mentally ill. She went on to create the Lovato Treatment Scholarship Program in his honor.
Demi Lovato suffered from bulimia nervosa, self-harm, and being bullied before her first stint in rehab at age 18. On January 28, 2011, she completed in-patient treatment at Timberline Knolls and returned home. She admitted that she had bulimia, had cut herself, and had been “self-medicating” with drugs and alcohol “like a lot of teens do to numb their pain”.
Demi Lovato revealed that she “basically had a nervous breakdown” and had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder during her treatment. She later stated that she used to use cocaine many times a day and smuggled cocaine onto airplanes. She spoke in a 2022 interview on the podcast Call Her Daddy.
In the interview, Demi Lovato said she was using opiates at the age of 13 after a car accident and “was already drinking” by that time. She said that this eventually led her to experiment with cocaine at the age of 17. She also stated that her drug and alcohol addiction not only caused her to nearly overdose several times but later began to impact her ability to perform live.
