Paulette Abagnale was born on 24 December 1926 in Oran, Algeria to her parents Eugene & Barbara Anton. She was the wife of Frank Abagnale, Sr. They had four children. Paulette was the beloved mother of Jean-Paul Abagnale (Denise), Frank Abagnale, Jr. (Kelly), Linda Abagnale, and the late Richard Abagnale (d. 2007). Frank is the third child of the family.
How did Paulette and her husband meet? Frank’s parents Paulette and Frank Sr met during World War II while Paul was stationed in Oran. The couple fell in love and later got married. After the war, they moved to New York, where her husband started his own business to support the family.

According to Franks’ Instagram post, he revealed -‘ I had a stable childhood and I was really close to my father but he traveled often as he became deeply involved with local republican politics. My father’s constant absence lead to my mother leaving him, still deeply in love with her.’
After his parents’ separation, Frank Abagnale decided to live with his father, tagging along on business dealings, this is where he learned about white-collar transactions. Frank revealed this in the same Instagram post.
In another post, Paulette Abagnale’s son revealed he was 15 when he started to forge checks, a lot of checks and it was an art of a sort to him. Frank revealed in the post-
” Too many companies do nothing to prevent check fraud and consequently are found liable for their losses. Only when a reasonable amount of care is shown can companies apply to banks for restitution. We have a lot of laws to prevent this, but that doesn’t mean they do, Check 21 for example. Check 21 is a federal law that took effect on October 28, 2004, and gives banks and other organizations the ability to create electronic image copies of consumers’ checks, in a process known as check truncation (Kenton). This may sound reasonable, but they destroy the check right after scanning it, therefore you have no proof I changed the check from $300 to $3,000, because the check is destroyed. “
Paulette Abagnale’s son Frank and his wife Kelly Anne Welbes Abagnale live on Daniel Island, near Charleston, South Carolina. The couple has three sons, Scott, Chris, and Sean. Frank maintains meeting his wife as the motivation for changing his life. He told author Paul Stenning that he met her while allegedly working undercover for the FBI when she was a cashier at a grocery store.

What happened to Paulette Abagnale?
Unfortunately, Frank Abagnale’s mother passed away on 7 November 2014. The cause of her death has not been made available to the public. Paulette Abagnale is also survived by her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Memorial Mass was held on November 20th, 2014 at St. Vito’s R.C. Church, followed by a committal service at St Mary’s Cemetery.
