Robin Rather was born on July 31, 1958, in the United States of America. She is the daughter of  Dan Rather and his wife of 66 years, Jean Goebel. Robin is the eldest of Rather children. She has a young brother- Danjack Rather. The daughter of the famous Journalist grew up with her father usually on assignment in a war zone; she still remembers the postcards she’d get from him growing up, in all of which he would write the same thing: “War is hell.” According to Variety, Robin Rather went to Quaker School as a kid and her father is a deeply religious man who reads his Bible every night.

Robin and her brother grew up with their mother Jean Geobel mostly running the house in their father’s absence. Dan Rather told Closer,- “Mostly thanks to Jean, they[Robing and her brother Danjack] have grown into very good adults. When I was covering the Civil Rights Movement, there was a year when I was only home for 31 days, and I was in Vietnam for the better part of 1965–’66. But I never take it for granted. I’m still working at it. Because if for any reason Jean left me, I wouldn’t be worth a damn.

Though he father wasn’t around so much while she was growing up because of his job, Robin Rather still cherished her father. She told Variety- “You can see in that footage where there are literally bullets flying by and I have really clear memories of being five or six or seven years old and watching that,” she says. “You really had no no idea if he’s all right. I’m not going to complain, because my dad was doing what he loved and doing his dream, doing his deepest sense of purpose every minute of it.”

She went on to say-“But I would never complain about my family life. I’m very lucky because I’ve known my dad loved me every minute of every day of my life. He is a world class journalist, but he’s a world class unconditional, loving father

Robin Rather’s parents meet when her mother came in to work in a secretarial position at KTRH radio in Houston where her father was also working. “In my case, it was love at first sight. Not only was she so intelligent, she was smoking hot, and it took me a while to convince her to marry me.“- Dan Rather told Closer.

Robin Rather is an Environmentalist, Business woman and a mother

Dan Rather’s daughter is an Environmentalist and Businesswoman. She chose a different career path from that of her father. The proud father told closer-“Robin is in business for herself — she’s an expert on sustainability and an environmental activist”. Per her LinkedIn she is the Chief Operating Officer of BCarbon.org.

Robin Rather is also a mother, she has a son named Andy. The proud grandfather told closer- “Robin’s son Andy is 18 and just returned from Nepal after taking some time off from college to do public service work there.” However, he is not sure if he will see his great-grandparents- He told Grand Magazine– “I don’t have great-grandchildren yet. I’m hoping to live long enough to see my great-grandchildren but you know I’m at the age where I don’t even buy green bananas. We’ll see how that goes.
