What Happened To Rosie Mayall’s Father, Rik Mayall?
Rosie Mayall’s father, Rik Mayall died on 9 June 2014, at his home in Barnes, Richmond-upon-Thames, London. His death was caused by a sudden heart attack. He was 56 years old at the time he died. His funeral was on 19 June 2014, at St. George’s Church in Dittisham, Devon. He was buried on his family estate at Pasture Farm, East Allington, Devon.
Rik Mayall’s wife Barbara Robbin was the one who found Rik’s body at their home. According to Barbara, her husband had “a strong heart”, adding that: “I don’t think it was a heart attack but we just don’t know until the coroner’s report.” Barbara also said: “Maybe he had a fit, maybe it was his heart. We just don’t know.”
The family’s spokesman said: “It is a terrible shock. All we know at this stage is that Rik died at home. We are all deeply saddened by this news, from the enormous number of fans Rik had to those who worked with him and knew him as a man as well as a fine actor. He touched many lives, and always for the better.”
Barbara Robbin also made a statement after her husband Rik Mayall passed away. She said: “We now know that our darling Rik suffered an ‘acute cardiac event’ at our home around midday on 9 June. He had just returned from his usual run and many people had seen him that morning.”
“I, Rosie, Sid, Bonnie and the many in our extended family who have received the thousands and thousands of messages of condolence from all over the UK and beyond these shores would like to say thank you to each and every one of you for your heartfelt love and support.”

In November 2014, a memorial bench for Rik Mayall was unveiled in Hammersmith, London. Rosie Mayall and her siblings Bonnie Mayall and Sidney Mayall were present for the unveiling of the bench.
