Regina Hall’s mother, Ruby Hall, was diagnosed with the rare disease scleroderma, and according to Regina “It affects the skin and some other organs, and can take several forms.” Speaking to Chet Cooper, Regina said:
‘My mom was diagnosed with scleroderma about six years ago. It affects the skin and some other organs, and can take several forms. The type my mom has is called CREST. Fortunately she has an amazing doctor at Johns Hopkins. I’ve been learning a lot about the condition, and I know that it predominantly affects women. There’s not a lot of funding for research and treatment of scleroderma, unfortunately.’

Regina Hall has joined the Scleroderma Research Foundation Board of Directors after being introduced to the Scleroderma Research Foundation by board members Bob Saget and Dana Delany. One time, Ruby Hall was suspected to be experiencing a stroke.
Ruby Hall’s speech was slurred and her mouth was moving strangely. Regina thinking her mom was having a stroke, called an ambulance. The doctors ran a few tests and Ruby was just fine but Regina and Ruby were both high.
Regina once recalled, “Well, I went to my mother and said, ‘Mommy, Dodge thinks we’re high,’ and my mother and I start cracking up.”
Ruby Hall’s Daughter Tried To Be A Nun
Ruby Hall’s famous daughter Regina Hall had attempted to be a Catholic nun. She reportedly considered becoming a nun after a bad breakup. She had already wanted to become one at the age of 14. She told The New York Times Magazine that she had “wanted to be a nun when I was a little girl too”.
Regina Hall confessed, “I had gone through a breakup. I wasn’t having sex anyway. I thought being a nun would be peaceful.” However, she didn’t meet the requirements so she was dined of being one. She said, “I was too old. Every sect has different rules and this particular one I was interested in, their idea was that this wasn’t a Plan B”.
