How did Shelley Covel Rowland’s parents meet?

How did the two love birds meet and started their relationship? Toby Keith is known for his big personality and that’s exactly what caught the attention of his wife Tricia Lucus when they first met at an Oklahoma nightclub in 1981 Accoding to Countrynow.

“I was 19 and he was 20,” Tricia told People. “He was just one of those larger-than-life guys, full of confidence.”

They danced together and began dating shortly after. During this time, Keith (whose real last name is Covel) would spend his days working in the oil fields and his nights performing at local bars with his band Easy Money. After dating for three years, the couple tied the knot on March 24, 1984.

Shelley Covel’s siblings

As said earlier, Shelley Covel Rowland is not the only child of her parents. She has two other siblings who are Stelen Keith Covel and Krystal Keith. Krystal being the second daughter and Stelen being the last and only son of the family. So far, two of Toby Keith’s children, Krystal and Stelen, have followed their father into the music business. Shelley on the other hand didn’t.

Shelley Covel Rowland’s younger sister, Krystal Covel Sandubrae, known professionally as Krystal Keith, is now a country singer like their father.

In 2004, Krystal sang with their father covering Inez and Charlie Foxx’s song “Mockingbird.” After graduating from the University of Oklahoma, Krystal continued to pursue her music career signing on with Show-Dog-Universal Music in 2013.

In the middle of 2013, her sister also released her first four song extended play, debuting her 1st single “Daddy Dance with Me.” She created a sweet memory for her father by surprising him when she sang it on her wedding day. Currently, Krystal juggles her music career with her busy family life.

Stelen, unlike his sister Krystal, prefers a career in music behind the scenes. Shelley Covel Rowland’s brother has collaborated with a longtime friend, Zeke Benoit, grandson of Howard Pollack, who is known for large-venue music concerts.

Stelen and Zeke grew up in the background and co-founded Nostalgic Nights, a concert booking agency. “I’ve seen it all up-close and personal for my entire life,” Stelen said in an interview with OUDaily. It appears to be a natural fit for Stelen.

On March 24, 2001, Shelley Covel Rowland’s grandfather was killed in a car accident on Interstate 35. On December 25, 2007, the Covel family was awarded $2.8 million for the wrongful death of H.K. Covel. Elias and Pedro Rodriguez, operators of Rodriguez Transportes of Tulsa, and the Republic Western Insurance Co. were found liable as they failed to equip the charter bus with properly working air brakes.
