Sidney Mayall’s Father Was Killed By A Heart Attack
Sidney Mayall’s father Rik Mayall who was born on 7 March 1958, in Matching Tye, Essex, England, is no longer alive. He died on 9 June 2014, at the age of 56 years at his home in Barnes, Richmond-upon-Thames, London. He died of a sudden heart attack reportedly after a morning jog.

A post-mortem that was conducted proved inconclusive. “The post-mortem was done this morning. The tests have proved inconclusive therefore tests are ongoing,” said a West London Coroner’s Court spokesperson. Sidney Mayall’s father Rik Mayall’s manager Roger Davidson said: “It is a terrible shock.”
“All we know… is that Rik died at home. He touched many lives, and always for the better.” Rik Mayall’s wife Barbara Robbin, whom he married in 1985, said that Rik had suffered “an acute cardiac event” following a morning run. Barbara said: “We now know that our darling Rik suffered an ‘acute cardiac event’ at our home around midday on 9 June.”
“He had just returned from his usual run and many people had seen him that morning. I, Rosie, Sid, Bonnie, and the many in our extended family who have received the thousands and thousands of messages of condolence from all over the UK and beyond these shores would like to say thank you to each and every one of you for your heartfelt love and support.”
“I would also like to thank the press for their discretion at this time and for all the wonderful coverage that you have given Rik. It would have made him very happy. We always knew that Rik was well loved but we are all overwhelmed by so many joining us in our grief. I am sure that you all know Rik’s response would be something along the lines of, ‘Well thanks very much all of you… now f*** off!!!!’”
Sidney Mayall’s sister, Bonnie Mayall who is also the daughter of Rik Mayall shared on Facebook: “My dad was loved not only by my family, but by many many others. We will never forget him and neither will the world. R.I.P to the man, the myth, the legend – my wonderful, generous, foul mouthed and hysterical father. My idol now and forever. We love you daddy.”
A spokesman for the family also said: “It is a terrible shock. All we know at this stage is that Rik died at home. We are all deeply saddened by this news, from the enormous number of fans Rik had, to those who worked with him and knew him as a man as well as a fine actor. He touched many lives, and always for the better.”

Sidney Mayall’s father Rik Mayall’s funeral was held on 19 June 2014, at St. George’s Church in Dittisham, Devon. Per his wishes, he was buried on his family estate at Pasture Farm, East Allington, Devon. Sidney and his family gathered for the unveiling of a bench in his father Rik’s name.
The bench is said to be similar to the one he sat on while starring in the hit sitcom Bottom. Sidney and his siblings Bonnie and Rosie Mayall joined fans of their father near Hammersmith Bridge Road in Hammersmith, west London, where part of the show’s opening credits were filmed.
