Dick revealed that Stacy’s mother, Margie, had lost her life in 2008. The movie star’s ex-wife had pancreatic cancer and eventually succumbed to the disease. The actor stated that Margie’s death made him feel like he had lost a part of his life, even though they were already divorced. They divorced in 1984 after a long separation

This was not the first loss that the Van Dyke family suffered a loss as Stacy’s mother Margie unfortunately miscarried twins before going on to welcome Stacy and her siblings, and Dick credits Margie for selflessly raising them. Stacy’s stepmother, her father’s second wife, Michelle Triola Marvin, was also diagnosed with lung cancer a year after Margie’s death.
