How Was Starlet Dugard Born?
Starlet Dugard was born to Jaycee Dugard and her captor Phillip Garrido. Jaycee was constantly raped while she was imprisoned during which she bore two daughters, Starlet Dugard and her sibling Angel Dugard, fathered by her rapist and kidnapper Phillip. At the time of Starlet’s birth, her mother was 17 years old.
Starlet Dugard’s mother Jaycee Dugard was 11 years old when she was taken away from a street while walking to a school bus stop in Meyers, California, United States. It was on June 10, 1991, that Jaycee’s abduction took place.
Jaycee was retained in concealed tents, sheds, and lean-tos in an area behind Phillip Garrido’s house, located at 1554 Walnut Avenue in Antioch, California. Jaycee was kidnapped by Phillip Garrido and his wife Nancy Garrido.
Phillip and Nancy married on October 5, 1981, in prison because at the time, Phillip was in prison. The couple met while Nancy was visiting her uncle, another prisoner at Leavenworth Penitentiary in Kansas. The duo abducted Jaycee for eighteen years.
When Jaycee was in labor, she wasn’t sent to the hospital. She was drugged with codeine and was made to watch videos of delivering a child so she would learn to give birth on her own. Starlet and her sister Angel Dugard used to assume that Phillip and his partner Nancy as their biological parents.

The siblings thought their mother Jaycee was their sister. Hollywoodlife stated: ‘Explaining to the girls that Jaycee was actually their mom and not their sister — as the Garrido’s had raised them to believe — was one of the more difficult aspects of their adjustment process.’
Starlet Dugard grew up in difficult occurrences and one can say her childhood wasn’t a lavish one. Her mother did her best to care for two daughters even in that situation. According to reports, her mother homeschooled her kids even though she had only fifth-grade education.
Starlet Dugard’s mother made it known that she wouldn’t want her kids to see their father but will have to respect their decision if they choose to. “I would hope they wouldn’t want to, but as long as he’s behind bars, and they’re safe, then I wouldn’t hinder their ability to make that choice”.
Starlet Dugard’s father Phillip Garrido had committed several crimes and has a criminal record. He was diagnosed as a “sexual deviant and chronic drug abuser”.
How Did Starlet Dugard’s Mother Escape?
A female cop Lisa Campell was doubtful of Phillip Garrido and his conduct at the University of California where he went with his two daughters, aged 15 and 11 to take a permit to distribute religious flyers. Lisa Campbell who was the UC Berkeley manager of special events said:
“He was clearly unstable”. His daughters appeared pale and gave an unusual empty stare. Campell asked Phillip to return a day later instead. She then opted to run a background check and got to know that Phillip was a sex offender. Phillip returned to campus with his two daughters.

Lisa Campell and fellow UCBPD officer Ally Jacobs were present at the time they returned. Ally Jacobs who felt that something was wrong with the girls said: “I’m a mother, so police mode turned into mother mode”. She said both girls were robotic, extremely pale to the point of being almost gray, and with non-responsive bright blue eyes.
Phillip Garrido admitted to the officers that his “life had changed” and he was “on parole for a rape and kidnapping that happened 33 years ago.” Ally Jacobs tried to find a way to keep the girls from going home but she was unable to do anything legally.
The officers phoned Phillip Garrido’s parole officer at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. They discovered from the parole officer that “he doesn’t have any daughters”. Phillip came back and this time, he came along with Jaycee and their two daughters into the parole officer’s office.
According to PEOPLE, Phillip referred to Jaycee as Allisa. Phillip confessed that he kidnapped Jaycee and the girls were his. He ended up arrested alongside his wife, Nancy. Phillip was sentenced to 431 years to life imprisonment while his wife, Nancy, was sentenced to 36 years to life.
Where Is Starlet Dugard Now?
Starlet Dugard has stayed away from the media limelight. After all she and her family had been through, she prefers to stay hidden. Nothing has been heard from her. She is living with her family and moving on from her traumatized life.
