Steve Parker was born on 6 February 1922, in Germany. He was the son of a State Department official. There isn’t much information about his childhood. He had been a paratrooper during World War II. He spent much of his time in New Guinea and during that time, he developed an interest in the theater as he assisted in organizing shows, per sources.

Steve Parker was a businessman and theater and film producer. He has been credited for his work in My Geisha (1962), John Goldfarb, Please Come Home! (1965) and The Dinah Shore Chevy Show (1956). He moved to Japan in 1956.

Steve Parker was married twice. He married Miki Hasegawa from 1987 until he died in 2001. He was previously married to Shirley MacLaine. He and Shirley’s marriage lasted from 1954 until they divorced in 1982. The two had an open relationship in their 28-year marriage.

On September 1, 1956, they welcomed their only child in Los Angeles, California, U.S. Steve Parker, and Shirley MacLaine named their daughter Stephanie Sachiko Parker, who also goes by the name Sachi Parker. Sachi is an actress and she has film and television credits.

Both Steve and Shirley had consenting permitted affairs frequently during their marriage. When Sachi was just 2 years old, she had to go stay with her father and his mistress in Japan. She only visits her mother during the summer and holidays.

“Sometimes we’d head down to the Piggly Wiggly and eat cookies from the bakery. They weren’t supposed to be free, but Mom had no qualms about grabbing one. No one stopped her; she was a celebrity, after all.”

Sachi Parker mentioned that her parents were negligent and her father was verbally abusive, calling her “the idiot” and forbidding her to read. At her father’s place, she was mostly alone at home while her father was frequently out. She was taken to a boarding school in Europe when she became a teenager.

At age 17, Sachi Parker was reportedly cut off financially from her parents as she intended to attend college. Meanwhile, Shirley MacLaine has made it known that monogamy is the only way to ensure marital success. She said she and Steve Parker were friends more than lovers.

“I guess you would say ‘practiced an open marriage’ in 1954, which was another lifetime. No one understood it, we did. He lived in Japan basically, I lived in America working, and this and that.” She added: “We’d meet up, always great friends, traveled sometimes together.”

Shirley MacLaine said: “I think that’s the basis for a long-lasting marriage if you really want to do such a thing. I would say better to stay friends and we don’t have enough time to talk about the sexuality of all. I was very open about all of that and so was he.”

Steve Parker is not alive as of the year 2023. He has kicked the bucket. Unfortunately, it was on May 13, 2001, that he took his last breath. He died in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. He died of lung cancer and he was 79 years old when he died.
