Yesterday, Sunday, May 9, 2021, Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta joined Kojo Oppong Nkrumah to address Ghanaians on the state of the country and the way forward. For some time now Ghanaian youths have taken to various social media platforms to register their frustrations and demanding the country to fixed and people in the country especially the youths to be given a better life.
From the Press briefing the financial minister the country, Ken Ofori Atta, Here is the summery
1.The government has been working ever since it was elected into office. Many interventions have come in to save the citizens of the country
2. Government spent resources to provide food, health, electricity and free water to over 10 million Ghanaians.
3. The government is fixing issues affecting the country with the country’s debt at 291 billion, which is about 76% of GDP. According to the Finance Minister, this figure is much lower when compared in percentages to previous governments.
4. Government has financed interchanges at Tema, Takoradi, Obetsebi Lamptey, Pokuase etc.
5. There has been so much investment in Railways.
6. Work is being done in conjunction with the Ministry of Roads and Water to assist areas suffering in those fields.
7. About 8 interventions from different sectors of the economy are being rolled out starting this month under the Obatanpa policy.
8. The Fix the country call is a call for both government and citizens to join hands and fix what is broken.
9. Had it not been for Covid-19, the country would have been better placed and certain burdens alleviated.

The presentation was followed by a barrage of questions from journalists who sought to ask whether the presentation was in reaction to the fix the country campaign or a minister’s normal briefing. Others also wondered if the presentation touched on the issues the campaign wants to be addressed.
