Susan Ray Blancha was born on June 2, 1925, in Pennsylvania United States. She was the daughter of Felix Carol Blancha and Bessie June Elliott. She was of Polish, English, and African-American ancestry. Her father had reportedly changed his surname from “Czarnyszewicz” to “Blancha”. He emigrated to the United States and married Bessie Elliott.
Susan’s parents had four children, including her. Her father Felix’s brother Florian Czarnyszewicz was a successful Polish writer who emigrated to Argentina. Susan’s siblings are Erwin B. Blancha, Sonya Blancha Thomas, and Edward Blancha. Susan worked as a secretary. She married Victor A. Tallarico (May 14, 1916 – September 10, 2011).
Victor was a classical musician and pianist. He also taught music at Cardinal Spellman High School in the Bronx. Susan and Victor are said to have married in 1945, in Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co., PA. Susan and Victor divided their time between their Trow Hill home and the Hunt Community, a residential community in Nashua.
Their marriage was blessed with two children, a daughter Lynda Tallarico, and a son Steven Victor Tallarico aka Steven Tyler. Lynda is said to have worked as a teacher but later retired. Steven is a singer, songwriter, musician, and television personality. Susan had a close relationship with her children. She also had several friends.
Susan Blancha’s friends and family were painters, concert pianists, orchestra conductors, inventors, mathematicians, dance-band leaders, actors, singers, and poets. Susan made oil paintings, cut and pierced lampshades, and had other craft work, which graced homes throughout New England. She was also a great cook. Her blueberry pies were the best.

Susan loved crossword puzzles, sewing, knitting, needlework, traveling with her husband, and nature. She was involved in volunteer work. She learned to type Braille books and volunteered many hours at the Sunapee Town Thrift Shop. She became a member of the knitting group at the Hunt Community, where she made clothing for newborns.
Susan and other relatives ran Trow-Rico, a summer resort in Sunapee. Her son Steven Tyler is one of the well-known and successful entertainers. He became the lead singer of the Boston-based rock band Aerosmith, in which he also plays the keyboards, harmonica, and percussion. He has also embarked on a solo career.
Steven Tyler released his debut solo album, We’re All Somebody from Somewhere. He supported the album with the “Out on a Limb” tour. He continues to perform both solo, with backing from the Loving Mary Band, and with Aerosmith. He has struggled with drug and alcohol addiction. He has long been candid about his sobriety journey. He said:
“There was a moment in ’88 where management and the band pulled an intervention on me. How Did Steven Tyler’s Mother Die?
Steven Tyler’s mother Susan Blancha died of natural causes. She is said to have died peacefully. She passed away in July 2008, in Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA. She was 83 years old at the time she died. She was buried at Eastman Cemetery, Sunapee, Sullivan County, New Hampshire, USA. The father of her two children Victor A. Tallarico died on 10 September 2011, at age 95.
