Tawny Marie Chapman is the ex-wife of Duane Chapman. Tawny Marie Chapman’s ex-husband, Chapman also known as Dog the Bounty Hunter, is an American television personality, bounty hunter, and a former bail bondsman. He is known for popular programs following his life and adventures as a bounty hunter.
He gained international fame as the bounty hunter who captured Max Factor heir Andrew Luster in Mexico in 2003 and, the following year was given his series, Dog the Bounty Hunter on A&E. After the show ended, Chapman appeared in Dog and Beth: On the Hunt (2013–2015), a similarly formatted TV show. His series Dog’s Most Wanted, debuted on WGN America in late 2019.

How did Tawny Marie and Dog the Bounty Hunter meet? The two met in 1988 after Chapman arrested her on a drug possession charge, and she subsequently became his secretary since he needed someone with bookkeeping experience, which she had. He hired Tawny as his secretary. Tawny Marie Chapman and Duane got married in 1992, separated in 1994, and officially divorced in 2002.
Tawny Marie and Dog the Bounty Hunter had no children together, though Chapman’s children did refer to her as their mother during the two’s relationship. In his autobiography, You Can Run But You Can’t Hide, Chapman recalled: “All my children liked Tawny and didn’t have a problem with her moving in.” At the time, he was a single father raising his children independently.
But the Bounty Hunter expressed regret for getting involved with his secretary and even told her he wanted them to be friends, but Tawny Marie decided to move in with him. Dog the Bounty Hunter referred to the marriage as “a disaster from the start,” alleging she was addicted to amphetamines. They were married for 11 years before finally calling it a quit. Her former partner is the father of 13 children from six different relationships.
According to Amomama, Dog the Bounty Hunter formed a secret relationship with Beth Chapman, who, coincidentally, was both Tawny’s closest friend and her worst enemy and also in a relationship at the time.
What happened to Duane Chapman’s ex-wife, Tawny Marie Chapman?
After their divorce, much was not heard from Tawny Marie, but her ex-husband, Duane had his fifth marriage to Alice Elizabeth “Beth” Barmore with whom he had an on-again-off-again relationship until the two married on May 20, 2006, at a Hilton hotel in Waikoloa Village, Hawaii.
Tawny Marie Chapman had one known child, Nicole Gillespie. It is not really clear who she had the child with.
At the age of 15, Tawny Marie Chapman’s ex-husband joined the Devils Diciples, an outlaw motorcycle club, and ran away from home. In 1976, Chapman was convicted of first-degree murder, and sentenced to five years in a Texas prison. He had been waiting in a getaway car while his friend shot and killed Jerry Oliver, 69, in a struggle during a deal to buy cannabis.
Chapman served 18 months at the Texas State Penitentiary in Huntsville, Texas. While he was in prison, his first wife LaFonda divorced him and married his best friend. During his incarceration, he did field work and acted as the warden’s barber.
In a 2007 interview for Fox News, Chapman claimed that while serving his sentence, he tackled an inmate about to be shot for attempting to escape, and a congratulatory remark by a corrections officer inspired him to become a bounty hunter later. Chapman was paroled in January 1979.
As a result of his felony conviction, Tawny Marie Chapman’s ex-husband is not permitted to own any firearms, and has been refused entry to the United Kingdom.
