The couple had their daughter Venessa on November 9, 1980, in 13th Air Force Regional Medical Center at Clark Air Base in Angeles City, Philippines. The couple also has an adopted son who is two years older than their daughter. Vince Minnillo moved the family frequently because of his service in the Air Force. The family lived in Washington, California, Nevada, Florida, Germany, and Japan and their daughter Venessa attended eight schools in nine years.
The couple’s marriage didn’t last forever, the couple separated in 1983 and were divorced in 1986. Her daughter was nine years old when the divorce took place. Both Helen and her ex-husband both got married again. Helen Bercero relocated to Turkey with their children and her new husband.
“Our relationship wasn’t that sexual,” Helen described their relationship in an interview with Star Magazine. “I think we both just wanted to be with somebody.” A year after Vanessa was born, they moved to the Los Angeles area, but Helen and her hubby — who once likened their relationship to “World War III” — were soon on the outs.
As the family moved around during that relationship, Helen tells Star: “I worked as a waitress at a strip club in Florida, and as a hostess at the Palomino strip club in Las Vegas. I made a lot of money.”

In 2006, Minnillo’s daughter Venessa began dating singer Nick Lachey after she appeared in the music video for his song “What’s Left of Me”. The couple became engaged in November 2010 and married on July 15, 2011, at Sir Richard Branson’s private Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands.
According to radaronline, Vince Minnillo’s ex-wife, Helen Bercero had no idea that her gorgeous 30-year-old daughter was even getting married. And when Star Magazine spoke with her exclusively at her South Carolina mobile home 12 days after Vanessa and Nick’s July 15 wedding in the British Virgin Islands, Helen struggled with her emotions.
“Oh my goodness, she’s beautiful!” Helen, told Star as she grew misty-eyed while looking at photos of Vanessa and Nick on their St. Barts honeymoon.
“She’s changed so much, though I can still see that little scar on her forehead from where she picked at her chicken pox when she was a child.
“I didn’t have a clue that Vanessa was getting married. We last spoke about 12 years ago, on the phone. I just wanted to talk to her and tell her everything straight about my life. But I still think about her all the time, and I still love her dearly.”
While speaking to PEOPLE with her husband Nick Lachey, the model opened up about her strained relationship with her mother.
Vanessa and her older brother, Vincent, briefly lived in Turkey with their mother and step-father, though the family was evacuated back to America for safety at the beginning of the Gulf War in 1990.
Once in Los Angeles, Helen dropped off her children at their father’s home. Helen allegedly told Vince Minnillo’s new wife she would be back for Vanessa and her brother.
