He wrote the majority of the group’s compositions and was the writer of “San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)” in 1967 for former Journeymen bandmate Scott McKenzie and the oft-covered “Me and My Uncle”, which was a favorite in the repertoire of the Grateful Dead. He became a part of the chief organizers of the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival.

Farnaz Arasteh has been the fourth wife of John Phillips. Phillips married Farnaz Arassteh in the year 1995. They were married on February 3. Friends and family were present at their wedding ceremony. The duo remained married until John Phillips died in 2001. They were married for 26 years before they were separated by the death of John Phillips.

However, aside from getting married to Farnaz Arasteh, John Phillips was previously married to Susan Adams of a wealthy Virginia family. They married on May 7, 1957, and had a son, Jeffrey, and a daughter, Mackenzie. John Phillips had extramarital affair with teenager Holly Michelle Gilliam while touring California with The Journeymen.

The affair led to a divorce between John Phillips and Adams. He went on to marry Michelle on December 31, 1962, and she thereafter became Michelle Phillips. They had a child called Chynna Phillips, a vocalist of the 1990s pop trio Wilson Phillips. Denny Doherty and Michelle started an affair in 1965. Michelle and separated in May 1969.

John Phillips then got married to his third wife, actress, and model Geneviève Waïte. They married on January 30, 1972, and had two children called, Tamerlane and Bijou Phillips. Phillips and Waïte went parted in the year 1985.

What Happened To Farnaz Arasteh’s Husband?

Farnaz Arasteh’s husband, Phillips battled health issues after years of drug addiction that expected a liver transplant in the year 1992. Months later, illustrations of him drinking alcohol in a bar in Palm Springs, California, were published in the National Enquirer. On March 14, 1994, during his first Howard Stern Show appearance since the transplant, he said, “Occasionally I have a drink” when asked if he still drank.

The final years of his life were spent in Palm Springs, California, with his fourth wife Farnaz Arassteh. He passed on due to heart failure on March 18, 2001, in Los Angeles. He died at age of 65, days after completing recording sessions for a new album. He is interred at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cathedral City, near Palm Springs.
