Who Is Lindsey Buckingham’s Son, William Gregory Buckingham?
William Gregory Buckingham aka Will was born on July 8, 1998, in the United States. He will be 26 years old on July 8, 2024. He is the first child and only son of his parents Lindsey Adams Buckingham and Kristen Leigh Messner. He has two younger sisters, Leelee Buckingham and Stella Buckingham. He was born before his parents got married. His parents have been married since February 15, 2000.
Lindsey Buckingham and Kristen Messner almost divorced after Kristen filed for divorce from Lindsey on June 2, 2021, in Los Angeles, California, United States. Lindsey and Kristen later decided to put their divorce on hold and work on their marriage. There isn’t much information about William’s childhood but his parents are believed to have provided a safe and loving environment for William and his sisters while growing up.
William’s father Lindsey Buckingham said of the differences between raising William and his sisters: “I think girls are easier, which is what they say, and maybe that’s just from a father’s perspective. For a father, the girls, even a very, very young age, they just want you to be Dad. And there is that male-female dynamic that comes into it.” Lindsey added: “When Will and Leelee were somewhat younger, they came out and saw Fleetwood Mac shows for a while.”
“So they saw Dad playing in arenas and as Will said, ‘Hey, I saw Dad showing off for all these people’ — which is about right. [So] I don’t want to influence him too much in that way.” William’s father despite his busy career makes it a point to be involved in his children’s lives. “I’m not one of those dads who’s going to go out and coach baseball,” Lindsey confessed.
“I mean, I go to the games, I do all of that stuff. But I just have to try to be ‘Dad’ and not ‘Dad the musician,’ and that’s something I’m learning. It’s actually pulling things out of me that I forgot I was from a long time ago. I really am forced to look at myself more and hold my son up as a mirror to myself and vice versa than with the girls, at least right now. And at 8, he’s just going to start needing his dad more — I hope anyway.”

Lindsey has mentioned that his son William and daughters Leelee and Stella “are proud of me and think Dad is pretty cool or whatever, but I don’t try to live that. I can be up on stage doing what I’m doing, but at home, I’m just another schlubby dad like everybody else.” He added: “I’ve just tried to be a dad who’s been supportive and interested in what they’re doing. They’re all pretty normal kids.”
William whose educational details are unknown, completed an internship with the Wasserman agency and is “quite musically inclined” as he loves to DJ. His sister LeeLee studied business at the University of Southern California while Stella loves riding horses. William also plays the guitar. He appeared as himself in the music video Lindsey Buckingham: It Was You. William chooses to live off publicity.
William Gregory Buckingham’s Instagram handle is a private one. Details of his love life have not been provided. It is unknown if he is currently seeing someone or not. However, he loves to spend time with his family. William’s father Lindsey Buckingham is one of the greatest guitarists of all time. He is known for his fingerpicking guitar style. In an interview, he said of using his fingers rather than a plectrum: “I started playing very young and from early on, the people I was listening to had some element of finger style. Probably the first guitarist I was emulating was Scotty Moore, when I was maybe 6 or 7.”
“And he played with a pick, but he also used fingers. And a lot of the session players, like Chet Atkins, they played with fingers or a pick. Then I listened to a certain amount of light classical guitar playing. And of course later on, when the first wave of rock ‘n’ roll kind of fell away, folk music was very popular and very influential in my style. So it was really less of a choice than what I fell into.”

“I use a pick occasionally. I certainly use it more in the studio when you want to get a certain tone. But it’s just the way I came up. I wasn’t taught. I just sort of figured things out on my own terms. I guess that was one of the ways that I became comfortable and it just kind of set in.”
