Who is Yorgos Petsilas?
Yorgos Petsilas (George Petsilas) is the leader of the popular Greek trio “The Athenians” and a Guitarist who became her backing band for many years. Petsilas was the first man she had shared a kiss with. The former loves, Yorgos Petsilas and Nana Mouskouri went on to tie the knot in 1961, in a beautiful wedding ceremony in the presence of their friends, families, and loved ones. She was 25 years old at the time of their marriage.
The singer had her first hit with White Roses from Athens the following year in 1961, recorded jazz with Quincy Jones in 1962, moved to Paris in 1963, and toured the US with Harry Belafonte in 1966.

A few years later, the couple welcomed their first child Nicolas Petsilas. He was born on 13 February 1968 and their daughter, Hélène Petsilas, nicknamed Lénou, was born two years after Nicolas on 6 July 1970. After being together for more than a decade the couple separated in 1974 and in 1975 were officially divorced. Their marriage lasted a total of fourteen years.

The singer is visibly proud of the fact that despite her humble beginnings and divorce, she has made emotional and financial success in her life. Their son and daughter were raised mainly by a Swiss nanny. André Chapelle, her music producer, has been her patient companion since shortly after her divorce, but marriage has given the couple a surprise kick-along when they got married in 2003 after courting for more than 30 years.
